Choppy Story Line

I bought the DVD's for Rebelde and while I do understand that they can't fit all of the episodes into one case, I still feel as if I don't understand the whole story line. One minute two of the main characters will be fighting and in the next five they will be kissing. I feel as if there's not enough background information for me to understand what is really going on. Aside from this, I really do like the telenovela. Are you guys have the same problem though?

  1. Yes, I'm having the same problem. I'm watching Dame Chocolate, and it seems like I'm missing lots of parts of the telenovela. The online reviews on Amazon commented on this problem. Even though it is annoying, it is probably necessary. The viewing time would be too long, and I personally don't have time to watch that many hours of television. Even though I don't get the full effect of the telenovela, I feel like it's beneficial in our circumstances. But it seems like your telenovela did a poor job of editing. I hope you can still get a good gist of the story line!

  2. I am having the same problems as well and I am also watching Rebelde. I remember Dr. A saying in class that many of the DVDs will skip some of the less important parts of the show and show most of the high points. I've noticed that it skips across much of the story line so I feel like I miss details of the story. But if you keep watching past the skipped parts, you will get most of the story line and understand enough important areas of the story-line to comprehend what's happening.

  3. Im having the same problem , but it isn't too bad because they chopped it in a way that the viewer can still understand the full story line. Essentially they only took out the parts that wouldn't effect the meaning of the telenovela too much.

  5. I think shrinking an entire television season with so many episodes down to 3 DVD discs takes a bit of skill to do properly. It must be a difficult task to cut out so much, while still allowing the story to make sense. The "Eva Luna" DVD editors, while I can see obvious gaps in the timeline, did a great job in maintaining the flow and logic of the story.

  6. I had this problem at when I first began watching my telenovela Corazon Salvaje. This story is so complex with more than enough confusion to make the story good, but also hard to figure out. What I did to solve this problem was after the first hour I started it over from the beginning and began to closely look at the facial expressions of the actors to fully grasp the severity of the different situations and so on.

  7. I am having the exact same problem! Except for me it makes more sense that the characters go back and forth between love and hate. Real life is like that sometimes and even though the telenovelas take this to the extreme, it is still somewhat believable to me that the characters could hate each other one minute and love each other the next.
